Hurry Up and Wait

This book  is beautifully written and it reminded me of Mean Girls but with a darker twist. It was a heartbreaking story of Sarah and what happened to her in the summer of 1986. We see her come back to her school’s reunion in 2010, facing what happened to her and making peace with the past.

Based on the synopsis, I thought it would be a thriller but it turned out to be a much more interesting, but sad story. I couldn’t put it down. It’s an intriguing story about adolescence, friendship, bullying, relationships, and the dark treachery that can surround these topics. Reviewers called it “haunting fiction” and “heart wrenching” . I couldn't agree more as I cried the last 50 pages and cringed throughout most of the book recognizing the toxicity of some relationships.
