Lullaby
I really enjoyed the writing style and changing POVs. We got an in depth look at the characters, seeing their lives and relationships transform over time. We know the ending by the first chapter and the rest is a study of the two main characters' relationship. We get hints to Louise’s decline in mental state and things that set her off but the ending doesn’t give a clear “Why” or motive, so felt that was missing and kept me from fully enjoying it-left me wanting more and feeling unsatisfied, so I didn’t like the rushed ending.
It was a quick read with interesting discussions/social commentary on things like class differences, race, poverty, and loneliness. However it did come off as just another (psychological) thriller where mental illness seems to be to blame, it was more hinted at than explicitly stated; could be due to the fact that it’s based on a true case.
