The Expatriates

The book focuses on 3 American women living as expats in Hong Kong. I loved that the chapters switched between each character's perspective and experiences. All 3 women are linked to each other, diving deeper into their relationships as the book continues. I was pulled into the novel from the start, although it slowed a bit in the middle before picking up again.

I loved the perspectives and musings of being an expat! I could relate to some of their feelings and experiences about living abroad, which made their stories even more enjoyable. It not only shows the usual, idealized ideas about being expats but also the starker reality of the struggles most expats (and immigrants) go through.
