Home Book reviews The Water Cure

The Water Cure

The synopsis on the back cover is vague and doesn’t tell you much about the story which I actually think helped me enjoy the novel more. It left a lot of room for speculation and your own guesses about what was happening throughout the story.

There wasn’t a lot of action in the plot, it’s more of a descriptive, critical thinking type of book. I really enjoyed the writing style as it kept me reading for long periods of time trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together! At first it was slow, which may be because it’s more descriptive and I didn’t know much about the book going into it.

The Water Cure is a unique and bizarre story that reminded me of The Beguiled or Circe (from the Odyssey, not Madeline Miller’s novel). Overall it left me with unanswered questions which usually bothers me but with this book, I kind of liked being able to make my own conclusions about some of the events that occurred before the story.
